A Ulysse Nardin foi fundada em Le Locle em 1846 e tornou-se um dos primeiros fabricantes de cronómetros de marinha. A partir da década de 1870, mais de 50 marinhas e companhias de navegação utilizaram os seus cronómetros e, entre 1846 e 1975, a empresa recebeu 4324 certificados de desempenho do Observatório de Neuchâtel.
